Everyone needs their pride Twittering One, you, me and Double-A more
than most.
In being homeless and/or marginalized, a person's self-esteem doesn't
come easily. Making others feel good about themselves frequently comes
down to swallowing one's own pride, so as to boost the esteem of the
other.
Yeah well, none of us can afford to play silly buggers in this sort of
pissing contest, even if it becomes impossible to avoid or disengage.
I cannot help anyone very much, not myself, not you, not Double-A..
In casually disbursing resources that I am unable to use to help
myself to others who are also unable to make gain from the opportunity
that I provide, I feel all that much more horrible and helpless.
Shrug. Pissing contests deserve to be ignored and suppressed.
Although the help from others is useful and important, an infinite,
endless supply of help, support, respect, sympathy and encouragement
can never be enough.
Somewhere along the line, you need to quit defending your pride and
start using your pride to get on with living.
All the help in the world won't help without you deciding that you are
proud to help yourself. That is the sort of thing that only you can do
for yourself.
