Double a   No one is agreeing with my saying america has gone fascist.
We now have to adjust to this new way of life. Best and most stable jobs
will be working for government agencies. Private schools, & public State
police Sheriff  Wal-Marts as other retailers go under. Lots of street
cleaners. Lots of gated communities. a different stock market.  No
freedom of rights for the poor. No need to vote in 12 years.  I could go
on and on,but best we think of Italy in the 30s and it will relate with
America in 12 years completely   Greed and corruption destroyed the
greatest democracy that was ever known. I die with a sad heart   I was
the power of #1,and all the others rolled over and played died, because
they had fear in their hearts. Democracy has to be fought for at times
to keep it alive, and that takes people with brave hearts. In reality the
Mafia had the most money and stronger will. They had a plan, and carried
it out to the end. I could realize what they were up to,but had few
listeners.   Bert

Sun Microsystems plans more Hillsboro layoffs!

"State officials received notification today that Sun Microsystems
plans to lay off 42 employees at three Hillsboro sites in January,
part of a broader restructuring announced last month.  Sun announced
on October 20 that it would lay off as many as 3,000 worldwide over
the next 12 months. Oracle is in the process of buying California-
based Sun, but the deal is being held up by European regulators.  In
earlier cuts, Sun laid off 48 at its Hillsboro sites. The company once
employed 600 at in its Oregon supercomputing operations, which are
descended from onetime Oregon technology star Floating Point Systems.
Sun did not immediate respond to inquiries about the size and nature
of its remaining Oregon operations."

NY attorney general files antitrust suit against Intel!

"New York's attorney general hit Intel Corp. with an antitrust lawsuit
Wednesday, claiming the company used "illegal threats and collusion"
to dominate the market for computer microprocessors.  Following a
similar case in Europe, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo claimed that the
world's biggest computer chip maker paid billions of dollars in
kickbacks to computer manufacturers and retaliated against those that
did too much business with Intel's competitors, namely Advanced Micro
Devices Inc.  Intel used its market prowess to "rule with an iron
fist," Cuomo said.  "Rather than compete fairly, Intel used bribery
and coercion to maintain a stranglehold on the market," Cuomo said in
a written statement. "Intel's actions not only unfairly restricted
potential competitors, but also hurt average consumers who were robbed
of better products and lower prices."  Intel has 15,000 Oregon
workers, more than any other business in the state."

U.S. unemployment rate tops 10%, 26-year high!

"U.S. unemployment rate tops 10%, 26-year high: There's no way to
sugar coat the Labor Department report this morning that the U.S.
economy shed 190,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate jumped
from 9.8 percent in September to 10.2 percent in October, a 26-year
high. The New York Times reports the biggest losses came in the
construction, manufacturing and retailing sectors. Dean Baker, a
director for the Center for Economic and Policy Research, told the
Times the report was "a pretty bad story" and said he did not expect
to see declining unemployment rates until next spring. "We may be
looking at very high levels," Mr. Baker said, "barring a policy
response, for several years into the future." Calculated Risk reports
that the current recession is the worst since WWII in percentage
terms, and second worst in terms of the unemployment rate. Only the
early 1980s recession with a peak of 10.8 percent was worse."

Lazy Days RV Center of Tampa Bay files for chapter 11 bankruptcy!

"Lazy Days, based in Seffner, said in early September that it planned
a bankruptcy filing, citing the impact of the recession, especially on
the recreational vehicle industry.  The company is the largest single-
site recreational vehicle dealer in the world, and among the largest
privately owned companies in the Tampa Bay area, ranking No. 11 on the
Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Top 200 list this year with $530 million
in 2008 revenue."

Nelson farm files for bankruptcy!

A 2,000-plus acre farm in Nelson County ('VA) valued at $15.5 million
filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday, a day before it was scheduled to go
up for public auction on the steps of the Lovingston courthouse.
Black Eagle Farm was being foreclosed on because of failure to pay on
a $5.29 million loan from a Charlottesville bank. It also owes about
$56,000 in local taxes.  The bankruptcy documents filed Wednesday
halted the foreclosure auction. In the filing, farm officials said the
farm incurred expenses to expand in 2008 and has suffered lower
profits since then due to the recession, and it is trying to refinance
its debt.

I heard most every word, and even believed most of them.

If you walked around your block or throughout your surrounding
community, how many would sign up for agreeing with you?

Even the worse Mafia types hire locals, as outsiders for accomplishing
those everyday chores.  Perhaps you could become one of their drivers,
or how about one of their local revenue collectors?  How about getting
paid a bounty or commission for collecting from those pesky deadbeats
like yourself that can't afford that yucky but spendy water, or
collecting on behalf of all that toxic coal produced energy that's
also as spendy as anywhere on Earth.

I had a client that became a multi-millionaire and major landlord, all
from running those mostly cash-cash sorts of easy to skim and
privately hoard some portion of that unmarked loot away from those pay-
parking lots.  The funny thing is, he really didn't seem to know how
to go about spending it without raising multiple red flags, and the
only friends he had were those on his payroll or as having been
contracted.  His home was nothing to brag about (plus having lousy/
cranky neighbors), and his $10+ million dollar yacht wasn't worth $2M
on the day it was launched, and never had an uneventful cruise because
of multiple complications that could have been easily avoided (I'm
fairly certain he's got more than $12M invested plus at least having
another million in insurance loot pored into that silly and terribly
inefficient boat, plus his moorage, major deductible insurance and
various operating cost of at least another $250K/year, that which
probably in a very good sellers market could not return $1.3M on that
original investment, or at best ten cents on the dollar).  The good
news about all this is, the other 90 cents on the dollar went
extensively into the local economy, so perhaps the dumb and dumber the
Mafia, the more gets spent.

Failure to Get Health Insurance Could Bring Fine, Jail Time...!

(Jeff has been warning us about this!)

"Failure to get health insurance could bring fines, possible jail

Phoenix Business Journal - by Mike Sunnucks

Failure to get health insurance could bring fines and possible jail
time under a health care reform bill being considered by the U.S.
House of Representatives.

The reform bill being pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.,
mandates some kind of health insurance similar to state mandates for
car insurance.

Republicans opposed to the bill on the House Ways and Mean Committee
said they received confirmation from the congressional Joint Committee
on Taxation Friday that the Pelosi/House Democratic bill would
penalize Americans who don’t get insurance either from private
providers or the government.

“The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain
“acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the
bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are
subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal
fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years,” House
Republicans said in a statement Friday.

The Democratic bill looks to create a public health insurance system
to help covered the uninsured. Various bills being considered in
Congress have coverage mandates.

Ironically, both advocates of government-run health systems and some
private insurance companies back mandated coverage. They say that will
help reduce costs by cutting into uninsured patients showing up a
emergency rooms.

But mandates for federal plans or private insurance worry civil
libertarians worried about the dictums helping expand government power
and insulate for-profit providers from competition.

“Individual mandates are a form of corporate welfare, forcing people
to buy what they do not need or want and often can’t afford. The push
for individual mandates does not emanate from concern over people who

Freddie Mac has to cut its losses (6.3 billion in losses!).  Homes
sitting empty are no use to it.  First priority is to keep up those
executive bonuses so the brass can afford to maintain those seaside
mansions they own in the Bahamas!  Everyone else can rent!

You (Bert) are better off without food stamps, they make you fat.

The phone won't work, not even here in Seattle,
there aren't enough (food stamp) workers for that.

You have to fill out the forms.
They'll mail you back with this response:
" You must fill out these other forms too. ".

Just keep filling out the forms, over and over, no matter what.
Eventually, you'll get the food stamps ( it takes months ).

Dodd unveils sweeping economic reform bill!

"The measure would give the government new power to prevent another
financial system meltdown and protect consumers. Dodd's 1,100 page-
draft would strip the Federal Reserve and other regulators of their
powers to regulate banks and hand that job to a single agency. The
bill also would take away the Fed's ability to monitor credit cards
and mortgages and establish a new "Consumer Financial Protection
Agency.""

Ambac Financial Group Inc. (ABK) shares fell 12% Tuesday after the

in a regulatory filing late Monday that it should have enough
liquidity to satisfy its needs through the second quarter of 2011.
But Ambac also warned that in the long term its main bond insurance
unit, Ambac Assurance, may not be able to pay enough dividends to the
holding company. That means the company may not have enough money to
pay operating expenses and debt it owes, including a payment that's
due in August 2011, the company explained in the filing.

Third quarter mass layoff actions hit record!

"U.S. employers initiated 1,776 extended mass layoff actions in the
third quarter this year, the highest third-quarter total since the
Labor Department began its mass-layoff data series in 1995.  The mass
layoff actions separated 277,924 workers from their jobs.  (Extended
mass layoffs are defined as actions that lay off at least 50 employees
from a single work place for at least 30 days.)  One-third of the
employers that reported mass layoffs in the quarter said they expected
to recall at least some employees in the future.  Manufacturing
companies were responsible for 29 percent of the layoff actions, but
the mass layoffs were spread over nine major industry sectors.  About
half of the employers cited business demand (or lack thereof) as the
reason for the layoffs."

PDX foreclosure rate more than doubles in year!

"The Portland area and Oregon are still doing better than the national
average in mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures. But the troubles
here are growing worse at a faster than the nation in the September
report from First American CoreLogic. Portland's delinquency rate was
5.99 percent in September, Oregon's 4.97 percent and U.S. 7.27
percent. But since September 2008, the delinquency rate in Portland
and Oregon has grown more than twice as fast as the nation's. The
foreclosure rate growth shows a similar is slightly less dramatic
spread."

Portland 33rd biggest price decline in Q3!

"Portland-area single-family home prices fell 12.2 percent in the
third quarter compared to a year earlier, the 33rd biggest decline in
the National Association of Realtors existing home prices report. The
region's median price was $244,500 in the third quarter. Salem's
prices were $180,400, down 9.8 percent, 42nd biggest decline. Eugene
had the 48th biggest decline at 8.1 percent to $206,600. Seattle-

compare, Seattle's price is 31 percent higher than Portland's.Here's
the complete list."

Deutsche expects 32% peak-to-trough house price decline!

"HousingWire reports on some very interesting figures and projections
from Deutsche Bank. The highlights: The U.S. housing market is on
track to lose 32 percent of its values from peak-to-trough. The bank
pegs the total U.S. housing market of 75.5 million home owners at $24
trillion at its peak in the second quarter of 2006. That value has
fallen to $18 trillion as of the second quarter of 2009. The bank
expects it will fall to $16.3 trillion in the second quarter of 2010,
32 percent below the peak. The "sand states," as HousingWire calls
them, account for an unbelievable 66 percent of the losses in housing
wealth. Those would be California, Florida, Arizona and Nevada. The
take aways here: It will be well into 2010 and maybe 2011 before
Oregon sees bottom in the housing market and we can all blame this on
the sand states."
