I realize this is not proper NG for this but I never heard about it and I
don't think many others are aware of it. On the local news tonight, If you
have a GM car with an air bag you also have a black box data recorder.

The Traffic Accident Reconstruction, driver seat belt status, speed and
more! Very interesting use of a computer.
